The East is a Delicate Matter – Exhibition in Grabar All-Russian Restoration Center

The unique project dedicated to the culture of South Asia presents exhibits collected from all over Russia.

Altogether fifteen museums have collected more than a hundred works that were previously undergoi restoration. This is not just an exhibition of handicrafts, household items, jewelry and ceremonial items, but also a visible and tangible proof of the triumph of the master's skills over the inexorable time. Lots of the artworks presented here had been literally destroyed previously, including by inept restoration attempts by their former owners.

Another feature of the exposition is its great variability. There are textiles, sculptures, carved panels, fans, ceramics, graphics and much more. Five workshops of the Grabar All-Russian Research and Restoration Center show their achievements. This is the case when you can enjoy the beauty of the original works and admire their skilful renovation, which is just indistinguishable in the final products.
