The exhibition “Divine and Avant-Garde. Women in Russian Art" will run in Milan until April 5, 2021.This was reported by the press service of the Russian Museum.
The visitors will see about 90 masterpieces, most of which are exhibited in Italy for the first time. Paintings by Boris Kustodiev, Konstantin Makovsky, Ilya Repin, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin and other famous Russian artists will be displayed.
The exposition consists of two parts, each of them demonstrating the development of Russian art and its diversity from the 16th to the mid 20th century. The first part is dedicated to the Mother of God and saints, portraits of empresses, as well as women of different classes. The second tells about the work of women artists such as Natalia Goncharova, Lyubov Popova, Alexandra Ekster, Zinaida Serebryakova,Ekaterina Khilkova,Maria Bashkirtseva.
Another section of the exhibition features women sculptors’ creations such as works by Beatrice Sandomirskaya and Vera Mukhina, in particular.
