In the 1930s - the time of the Great Depression - Hollywood experienced a real boom: millions of Americans spent their free time in cinemas, where the luxurious atmosphere of musical films about romantic and elegant characters was a desired distraction from everyday financial problems. It is no coincidence that the 1930s – 1940s came to be called the “golden era” of the Hollywood musical.
The melodies and songs from the movies would instantly turn into hits, and jazz musicians often performed their versions of these tunes in their own swing manner.
The most famous of them will be performed by the Classical Jazz Ensemble in original arrangements by Valery Kiselev tomorrow.
