The State Museum of Oriental Art and the Japan Foundation present the exhibition Metamorphoses of the Earth: Japanese Unglazed Yakishime Pottery.

      The exhibition tells about the development history of this type of ceramics, which followed its own unbeaten path in Japan.

      The exhibits include works that go beyond traditional concepts of yakishime and are made in the spirit of modern expressive means. However they are presented along with objects that introduce the classical Japanese tea ceremony and traditional washoku cuisine.
