The revenue of Moscow nightclubs and bars fell after the introduction of a QR code check-in system in the capital, Vedomosti reports.
Residents of St. Petersburg also began to visit these places less often. According to VTB acquiring data, in the period from October 19 to November 1, the revenue of bars and clubs in Moscow fell by 12% compared to 2019 and by 7% compared to the previous two weeks. In the northern capital, where the work of establishments was prohibited at night, revenue fell by 58% at once compared to the previous year and by 22% compared to the previous week. “Traditionally, in the second half of autumn, we record the growth in revenue of Moscow bars and nightclubs... This year, due to the increase in COVID-19 cases and the introduction of the QR code system, we see the opposite trend,” Alexey Kirichek, head of the acquiring department at VTB said.
