On the occasion of the 500th anniversary since the death of Rafael Santi, the Hermitage presents an exhibition project dedicated to the influence of one of the greatest representatives of the High Renaissance on the following generations of artists.
Visitors will witness an interesting dialogue between the Renaissance titan and mannerists, academics, caravaggists, baroque masters, romantics and modernists. Here you can see hundreds of paintings, drawings and sculptures, as well as arts and crafts, some of which have not been shown before.
In addition to works by Raphael, the exhibition will include works by Giulio Romano, Francesco Parmigianino, Nicolas Poussin, Peter Paul Rubens, Anton Raphael Mengs, Alexander Ivanov, Alexei Venetsianov, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Camille Corot and Pablo Picasso.
To top it all, visitors will see restored frescoes of the Raphael school.
