The exhibition presents paintings and graphic artworks, sculptures, glassware and applied art, costumes and medals from the collections of the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Hermitage Museum, the State Archives of the Russian Federation, the Peterhof, Tsarskoe Selo and others museums, as well as private collections.
The exposition contains a lot of porcelain, including ceremonial sets and huge vases, which were used to decorate interiors in those days. Thematic expositions also tell about the emperor's travels and wars.
The exhibition tells about the personality and state activities of Emperor Nicholas I, Russian foreign policy, the life of society, the imperial court and the royal family on the basis of more than 300 works.
