At the December Evenings festival, the music of romantic composers was often played, and the World of Romanticism (1985) and Romantic Intermezzo (1997) festivals were dedicated entirely to it. In December 1985, Boris Messerer turned the White Hall of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts into a kind of musical salon of the XIX century. What was happening on the stage was supposed to be reminiscent of the evening meetings at George Sand: dressed up "invited guests" sitting around the piano, rehearsals imperceptibly turning into concerts, with music by Schubert, Schumann, and Chopin performed.
Eliso Virsaladze played Schumann's compositions at one of the December Evenings of 1985 Herperformance was highly praised by Richter, a recognized master of interpretation of Schumann's works, who subtly and accurately conveyed the controversial and rebellious spirit of the composer.
It is quite natural that Eliso Virsaladze's Klavierabend is dedicated to the music of romantics and the main protagonists of the era-Robert Schumann and Frederic Chopin.
