The All-Russian Museum of Decorative Art jointly with the ARTEFACT project of the Russian Ministry of Culture are launching a virtual exhibition "Russian Style. From Historicism to Modernity".
The exhibition presents more than 40 key exhibits of the museum's same-name exposition. Among them are works of folk art of the second half of the XX-beginning of the XXI century, carvings of the Abramtsevo and Talashkino art centers, and paintings by Malyutin, Vasnetsov, Golovin, Vrubel, etc. The exhibition also displays items from the collection of the Moscow Handicraft Museum.
Visitors can trace the stages of formation and development of the Russian style in decorative art from the period of "historicism" in the 1830s-1870s to the "neo-Russian style", important facets of Russian modernism.
