Russia extended the suspension of flights with the UK until February 1, inclusive, according to the decision of the operational headquarters to combat coronavirus.
Flights have been canceled since December 22 due to the detection of a new strain of coronavirus COVID-19 in the UK.
On January 10, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, announced the detection of the first case of infection with a "British" strain of the virus in Russia. It was discovered in December by a Russian who flew in from the UK. This mutation of the virus spreads faster than the previously known. The "British" strain has been identified in more than 40 countries around the world.
