Online Exhibition «A Different View. Portrait of the Country in the Magnum Agency Lens»

Online Exhibition «A Different View. Portrait of the Country in the Magnum Agency Lens»
Magnum Agency is one of the world's most influential creative associations. Founded in 1947 by a group
of five friends-photographers who decided to move away from the pressure of official journalism and
the press, it became a leader, bringing together top-class photographers from all over the world. The
photo agency sees its task in distributing reportage images in print.
Of course, this would not be possible if the works offered by Magnum were not of high quality, creating
a complete and vivid portrait. This is the portrait of Russia as offered to the audience by the exhibition,
which took place in the" Manege " in the summer of 2020, and is now available online. These are 250
images that cover more than seventy years of this country's life, during which it survived the post-war
years, the thaw and perestroika, and was reborn into a new Russia. It is an outsider's view, unbiased and
      therefore disarmingly accurate.
The online version of the exhibition is presented as a 3D tour, which enables you to walk around the
exhibition hall, stopping at the photos, and looking at them closer and closer. The works are divided
chronologically: the first floor is given to the period of the USSR, the second-to the new Russia.
Separately, it is proposed to get acquainted with several works in more detail, they are accompanied by
a text telling about the history of creation, the author and the role in the exhibition. Text support is
available both in the usual version and in the form of an audio guide.
The exhibition was organised in collaboration with Magnum Photos, the Henri Cartier-Bresson
      Foundation and curator Nina Gomiashvili.
