Yevgeni Yevstigneyev Theatre Festival Starts in Nizhni Novgorod

The 4th Theatre Festival named for the great Russian actor Yevgeni Yevstigneyev (1926-1992) has started in Nizhni Novgorod. The event held in the native city of this brilliant actor is marking his 80th anniversary.
Among the honorable guests of the festival were his fellow townsfolk.
"He was admitted to Theatre School in spite of all the rules - without exams, and in the middle of the academic year," - recollects the son of the rector of Gorky Theatre School who had discerned a great talent in this 20-year old youth playing drums in the factory club.
The festival is peculiar for the three juries - those of professionals, journalists and spectators - that judge skills and talents of actors at the same time.
