Tumor Healing Proton Therapy

Fellows from the Institute of Nuclear Research are establishing a new institution for treating malignancies proton therapy complex.
      New medical institution will host development and trials of new malignancy treating technologies involving various types of ionizing radiation.
      Heavy charged particles, such as androns and protons, affect the tumor itself, while electrons and photons damage healthy tissues together with a malignancy. Experts claim proton therapy cures a variety of malignancies, which are inoperable.
      The complex will host three radiation cameras. Conventional therapy unit will welcome its first patients by the end of this year, while proton therapy units launch is scheduled for the next year. After full activation the complex will treat up to 50 patients per shift, which makes it one of the largest radiology centres in Europe.
