Gone in 30 seconds: Russian car thieves

Hollywood’s record of thieving a car in 60 seconds makes Russian car thieves smile as they know how to do it twice faster. Some of professional “retired” car thieves claim that every car signalling system can be switched off or liquidised noiselessly. The target car is usually first eyed for some time and then it’s a matter of technical skills: professionals choose special radio wave scanners which let them switch the signalling easily.
Car thieves normally work in groups: for instance, one thief deals with signalling; another one starts the car and drives it to the needed place, other members of the group dispose of the stolen cars. When a professional car thief gets into the car, it takes him 30 seconds to start it without a key.
However, Russian car thieves prefer to not deal with cars equipped with the new GPS system, which can trace the car’s route and show its coordinates.
