The 8th International Theatre Festival NET Kicks Off in Moscow Today

The 8th International Theatre Festival NET-2006 starting in Moscow today focuses on the non-verbal theatre expanding these days.

It does not mean that the text is completely ignored at performances, but it stops domineering and gives way to music, plastic art, the play of light, scenography and transformation of the theatre space, as the festival organizers explain. Thus non-verbal theatre removes the language borders.

Among the guests of the festival there are its regular participants, such as the Russian Engineering Theatre , and Alvis Hermanis, as well as companies quite new for the Moscow public: Jo Stromgren, Francois Tanguy, Tristan Sharps, and Israel theatre Clipa. Altogether the festival program presents eight stage productions from Russia, Latvia, Israel, France, Britain, Norway and Mexico.

The festival performances will be held in the Moscow Theatre for Young Spectators, Theatre Centre "Na Strastnom", Mossovet Theater, the Theatre of Nations, and the art centre "Project Fabrika" located at the territory of a former paper factory.

The festival runs till December 6.
