Russian avant-garde in Tretyakov Gallery

From June,8th to August, 15th the exhibition Russian avant-garde from the collection of the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art is on in Tretyakov State Gallery.
       For the first time the audience will be presented the unique collection of the countrys biggest art archive. The Russian State Archive of Literature and Art (RSALA) is the Russian biggest repository of documents on the history of literature, music, theater, cinema and fine arts. Its funds contain more than 1.5 million items. For the last 15 years some masterpieces from the archives collection appeared at world and domestic exhibit areas, however not giving the complete idea of the richest collections kept there.
       The exhibition will mark the culminating point of the project Pictorial sources of RSALA, carried out with the support of Ford Fund. In the course of the project there has been created a data base; attributed and digitized more than 2000 works, 300 of which selected for the exposition. Most of them will be open to the public for the first time. The exhibition is to become a real revelation both for public and experts.
       For the first time there will be exhibited the album of A.E.Kruchenyh, one of the major representatives of poetic avant-garde. In this album there are pictures, collages, photos and autographs left by O.V.Rosanova, K.S.Malevich, D.D.Burlyuk, M.A.Larionov, N.S.Goncharova, etc. The richest collections of works by the great avant-garde masters V.E.Tatlin and R.R.Falk will be on. Among the unique exhibits is the manuscript magazine Bloodless Murder, one of the memorials of early avant-garde. Initiated in 1915 by a young artist M.V.Le-Dantu and his friends V.M.Ermolaeva and N.F.Lapshin, the magazine was printed with a hectograph and consisted of 4-6 pages of illustrations with manuscript comments. The magazine ceased to be issued when Le-Dantu went to the front in 1916.
       Early avant-garde in RSALA is also a whole stratum of unknown works by E.G.Guro, K.M.Zdanevich, S.B.Nikritin, V.S.Bart and A.A.Morgunov. The exhibition also represents the age of constructionism rise of the 1920s. A special place in the archive belongs to the fund of architect Y.G.Chernikhov, consisting of collection of graphic works of the 1920s.
       Specially for the exhibition the International Center of Financial and Economical Development on the initiative of RSALA has published the album Russian avant-garde in the collection of Russian State Archive of Literature and Art. The CD Artists of the Russian avant-garde will be presented at the opening of the exhibition.
       The audience will have a chance to see the electronic versions of the best works of that time and learn about the lives of the artists. The visitors can also learn about RSALA and its activities from the film The Archive of Muses shown at the exhibition.
