Articles of shamanistic cult will be presented at the exhibition Metamorphose of Tambourine, that opens today in the State Museum of History of Religion, St.-Petersburg.
The visitors will see around 20 articles of shamanistic cult of the beginning of the XX century, donated to the museum by the famous ethnographer Igor Lavrov. Among the exhibits are Aleutian tambourines, Chukchee shaman masks and sculptures of spirits.
The ethnography articles will be accompanied with paintings and engravings on shamanism.The opening of the exhibition will be marked with a performance of the master of guttural singing Alexander Balsanov and the ensemble of ethnic dance Severnoe Siyanie (Aurora Polaris).
The exhibition will be held to the accompaniment of recorded shamanistic music. It will last for two months.
