The exhibition Kandinsky and Russian Soul from the collection of the State Russian Museum has opened in Verona, Italy.
Three floors of the splendid museum Palazzo Forti give place to 155 superb works of Russian art dating from XIX century to nowadays.
It is the third exhibition of the Russian State Museum in Palazzo Forti. Previously, the Italians had a chance to see Russian icons and avant-garde art in Verona.
Italy already knows such names as Malevich, Shagal and Kandinsky. Thus, the exhibition is named after the master of Russian avant-garde, though it includes also the works of other outstanding Russian artists, among them Savrasov, Surikov, Shishkin, Levitan, Repin and Makovsky.
“Russian art of the XIX century is not widely known abroad, - points the deputy director of the State Russian Museum E.N.Petrova – That is why many foreign visitors are especially interested in realism. When selecting works for the exhibition we tried to chose paintings that are the best in conveying the features of Russian character and the peculiarities of Russian soul".
