18 February is going to be a crucial day for the sporting Russia. This day experts of the evaluative Commission of the International Olympic Committee will arrive to the resort to assess its readiness for the Olympic Games-2014.
According to the words of the Minister of economic development and trade German Gref, he is satisfied with the current situation in Sochi, and the receiving side is 90% ready for the visit of the important guests.
At the moment the city’s most urgent task is modernization of the airport and building of a new passenger terminal. Now the works are held round-the-clock and considerable sums of money are contributed in order to renovate the airport before the commission arrives.
German Gref is sure that even if Sochi doesn’t get the right to host the Olympic Games 2014, the ongoing intensive development of resort and tourist resources of the city will have a highly positive impact on the whole Caucasian Region.
