Bronze Soldier in Tallinn dismantled, digging delayed

The Bronze Soldier statue has been dismantled and now is guarded by the police. Estonian authorities promised to dismantle the monument after May 9, but removed it 2 weeks before that day. The decision of the pre-term dismantling belongs to Andrus Ansip, Estonian Prime minister. The Estonian government and the crisis commission explained this was done for the sake of the countrys safety.
Meanwhile, Tallinn was on the verge of the state of emergency last night. Protectors of the monument, 500-3000 people, according to different sources, protested against dismantling of the statue; they smashed windows of shops and houses and burnt tire-covers. Later they tried to break through the police cordoning surrounding the monument. The police used tear-gas, light-and-noise grenades, and water jets. There are also injured amongst the policemen. At the moment an investigation is being held over the incident.
However, the Minister of defence of Estonia Jaak Aaviksoo has reported about delaying of digging the mass grave under the monument and said that the government needs to rapidly reconsider their plans concerning the grave.
