The director of the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography Michail Shvydkoy referred to this monument as very successful.
Vasily Shukshin is a genuine peoples artist who managed to express in his literary and cinematic works all the tragic experience of the Russian people via lives of various characters: from simple villagers to the clerisy, - mentioned Mr.Shvydkoy in RIA News interview.
As he said, Shukshin showed Russia in all its richness, power and touching beauty and succeeded in giving profound insight into life of the Russian people; that is why he is so much loved by the Russians of all ages and social set-ups, by villagers and urbanites.
