Mudflow destroys Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka

A powerful mudflow that took place on Sunday has destroyed 2/3 of the territory of a unique natural monument and the most remarkable site of Kamchatka – The Valley of Geysers, which is annually visited by thousands of travellers. This was reported by a representative of the air company which helicopter evacuated the tourists; fortunately, no one was killed or injured.
The mudflow consists of snow, trees, stones, and mud. It has covered nearly 2/3 of the Valley of Geysers, including the lower helicopter pad. According to experts, a part of the biggest geysers will break through the formed mud layer, but the majority of geysers have been lost forever.
