Universal Pictures International (UPI) is to distribute Russian films. “Krakatuk”, film by “Amedia”, is the first one to distribute. UPI is expected to produce films in Russia as well.
In the beginning of the year UPI has established its own film distribution brunch. UPI and “Amedia” are negotiating an agreement about distributing “Krakatuk”, a 3D format film, which will be released in autumn.
The film budget is $3mln, the promotional campaign costs $2mln, the profit is expected to be $6-10 mln.
Russian films are of great interest for companies like Universal Pictures International, as they make one third of all handles in the Russian film market.
