Virtual government for Russians

Yesterday The Russian government approved a new program on creating a virtual government, reports Kommersant. The program is expected to be finished in 2010 with 1.3 billion dollars spent on its implementation.
All this money will go for putting various documents including passports and driving licenses into the electronic format. Besides, the procedure of registration of the real estate as well as of the entrepreneur business will also be kept in the electronic format.
It is expected that the electronic government will have its own call-centres able to put you through to the civil servant you want to speak with. The program will get the financial support from two sources: regional budgets will invest 770 million dollars and the rest will be provided by the federal budget.
Experts believe, the new system can save up to 10 billion rubles annually and 50% of the civil servants time.
