On September 2 Alain Robert, known as French Spiderman, was expected to climb the highest tower in Europe – Federation Tower, which is part of the business complex Moscow-City. The day prior to the scheduled climbing media reported that Alan Rober did not need an official permission of the city authorities due to the building he was going to climb was registered as private property.
According to the Internet media, at first the show was expected to start at 3.30pm Moscow time, but later the time was re-scheduled for 4.00pm, as was reported by radio. People started to gather not far from the Federation Tower at approximately 3pm. Mirax Group – organizer of the climbing - set a big screen at the tower to make the show seen to everyone. However, at around 4.30 the spectators heard an announcement notifying that the show had been cancelled.
Later it became known that the administration of the Central District of Moscow banned climbing of Alain Robert.
The press-secretary of the administration comments: “We did not ban or permit anything as the organizers did not even apply to us. They had to notify us and get permission for organizing such event, but they did not inform us about their plans. If they had applied to us the way they were supposed to do, there would hardly have been any problems with the climbing”.
