Russia to Provide Iran with Passenger Aircraft

Iran intends to purchase a number of made-in-Russia passenger aircraft for domestic flights usage. Iran explains that Russian liners are the best choice for the country taking into account a recent embargo put on import of Boeing planes to Iran by the USA. Besides, influenced by pressure from the US side, the European aircraft manufacturing company Airbus has also refused to cooperate with Iran.
At the moment it is known that Iran has signed a contract on supplies of 5 Russian TU-204 planes and has also bought several more Russian aircraft. However, the details of the deal will be announced when the aircraft arrive to the country.
According to the head of the Iranian head office of civil aviation Saeed Hessami, “Iran will never let the sanctions put by the USA to eliminate the Iranian airfreight”.
