Russia presents its culture in Amsterdam. The city residents and its guests can know lots of interesting things about Russian culture. The Festival Days of Russia are to be held in the Holland’s capital during October, that why it was nicknamed The Big October Festival. The event was lunched with the photo exhibition by RIA News The Highlights of Russian Cosmonautics devoted to the 50th anniversary of the first Russian satellite.
The Festival is rather rich in events. The Amsterdam audience can enjoy the exhibition of the works of art of the Russian painters, the exposition of post cards of the turn of the XX century, depicting St.Petersburg. These post cards were sent to Holland by Dutchmen who were visiting then Russian Empire capital. There will be held literary readings, political discussions, films show and Russian music concerts.
One of the most significant parts of the Festival is the exhibition devoted to the greatest Russian poet and writer Alexander Pushkin. At the exhibition opening visitors can listen to poet’s poems and lyrical songs written on the base of his poems.
The bookshop Pegaus, specializing in Estern European literature, is to organize a meeting with a modern Russian writer and literary critic Victor Erofeyev. The famous cinema Criterion in Amsterdam is to show documentary films by Russian directors, what is followed by political debates about present political situation in Russia.
Russian musicians have prepared a special program. The performance of Maria Lyudko, a soloist of the Mariinsky Theater, the St.Petersburg band Diva, a viola player Elena Emelyanova and a pianist Alexander Kuznetsov is to be held for classical music lovers. The youth can try Russian music disco.
The Festival Days of Russia is organized by The Russian Cultural Center in Amsterdam, the Gallery Goda, Academy of Russian Art, the bookshop Pegasus and the Russian news Agency RIA News.
The Festival is also supported by Russian Embassy in the Netherlands.
