Nicolas Sarkozy is fixing relations with Russia. Today he is coming to Moscow for his first bilateral summit with Russia’s president.
In spite of the fact that Russia ‘complicates’ (according Mr. Sarkozy) the world’s problems it ‘is and will remain a major player in international relations and an essential partner.’
The two presidents are to held talks about energy and industrial co-operation, as well as Iran's nuclear programme and Kosovo.
They are also due to discuss possible collaboration between the European aerospace firm, EADS, and its Russian counterpart, UAC, on the construction of a new passenger jet, as well as the partnership between the energy giants, Total and Gazprom.
The personal visit of the French president is rather important for the two countries’ friendship. With Jack Chirac’s leave the relations of France and Russia have strained. And the French president is to fix them.
