Nicolas Sarkozy follows the old rules of asserting oneself. He rejects his predecessor Jack Chirac’s mild policy towards Russia and claims he is ill-disposed to be soft with his eastern partner.
Nevertheless the French leader uses the worked out background for developing the two-side relations further.
During his visit to Moscow Nicolas Sarkozy mentioned he is not going to prevent the flow of Russian investments to France and Europe, while the French investments into Russia are increasing.
Both countries are interested in the joint investment projects, first of all in the field of energy supply, atomic energy (in spite of the fact that both countries are rivals in this sphere), aviation (the creation of Super Jet-100), space (the launch of Russian booster ‘Soyuz’ from the Kuru space center in French Guiana), and building speed highways and railways.
The French auto giant Renault is going to double its production in Russia. Another French autoconcern Peugeot-Citroen is looking for a place for building its woks in Russia now.
The mutual interest of the two countries is also proved with the growing turnover which has increased on 13.9% for the first half of 2007 and reached $6.8 billiards.
