Oleg Deripaska’s Russian fund Strike Force and Austrian copper producer Montanwerke Brixlegg controlled by A-Tec Industries have filed a joint application to acquire RTB Bor Company in Serbia.
The Serbian officials offered the second tender to sell the bankrupt company at the lowest price of $340 million for three mines and a mining and smelting complex. Besides, the purchaser will be bound to additionally invest at least $180 million.
The other companies to participate in the tender are Russian mining company Solvej, which operates several mines in Macedonia and British Vedanta Resources.
RTB Bor was closed down in the 1990s, during the Balkan War, since that time the company has owed 500 million dollars, while its annual losses make up $45 million.
