Christie's auction house in London has withdrawn from trading 41 documents the Russian cultural legacy oversight service Rosokhrankultura suspects of having been stolen from the state military archives.
"Lots 257 and 278, which together comprise 41 documents, have been withdrawn from the auction of valuable Russian books and manuscripts scheduled for November 29 at the request of Rosokhrankultura," said Anna Belousova, a representative of Christie's Russia.
The first document is the request for a mission with Iosif Stalin’s endorsement. The second one is forty orders on Kiev military district, the total volume is 100 pages. Most of these papers are singed by Georgy Zhukov, the Soviet military commander.
