China to Send a Probe to Mars on a Russian Carrier

Chinese satellite for studying Mars is scheduled for launch for October 2009, and will be delivered to Mars via Russian carrier vehicle, The China Daily newspaper reports.
      The satellite, named Yinghuo-1 will travel for 350 million kilometers before entering Marss orbit. This event is expected to happen in September 2010, and first images will arrive the same year.
      The satellite will spend about a year on the Red planets orbit. Previously mass media reported about Yinghuo-1 traveling with a Russian research probe, aimed at collecting soil samples from Phobos and returning to Earth, however, this information was not confirmed.
