Russian Railways company and the air carrier Aeroflot have expressed an intention to unite their passenger transportation services. President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin and director executive of Aeroflot Valery Okulov have signed a protocol on organization of joint transportations by the two companies. The protocol implies formation of a work group for developing the further steps of bringing the project to life.
As a press-release of the companies marks, Russian Railways and Aeroflot intend to create “a system that would let passengers travel by air and rail transport with a through ticket”, which means launching air-rail tickets valid for both kinds of transport. It is planned to use both railway and air booking offices for selling tickets of the new type. The next step of the companies is making a contract on organization of joint transportation.
