Moscow Rated 17th in Worlds Top Capitals

The Independent has presented a list of the worlds top capitals that is based on comparison of 60 cities of the world. According to the newspaper, London tops the list and is admitted to be the so-called capital of the world. The UK capital is followed by New York (2nd position), Paris (3rd position), and Tokyo (4th position).
As for Moscow, it was given the 17th position in the list. The only thing that the comparison authors liked about the Russian capital was its broad underground system. At the same time, according to their opinion, Moscow lacks restaurants, sightseeing sites, and offices of large companies. (Probably the top capitals` authors did not know that the majority of large companies had offices in Moscow and that the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square were on UNESCO World Heritage list).
Apart from data on the cities` economic development and cultural value the comparison also took into account such factors as hosting the Olympic Games and presence of symphonic orchestras in the cities. Also the comparison took into account the frequency with which the cities were mentioned by Google.
This is why it does not seem surprising that such centres of world tourism as Rome, Barcelona, Prague, Vienna, Athens and Mexico did not take any of the leading positions on the list while Los-Angeles, Glasgow and Dublin were placed in the list tops.
