Americans Make a Film about Daughter of Stalin
Svetlana Alliluyeva with her father, Joseph Stalin

Production of a documentary featuring Josef Stalin’s daughter Svetlana Alliluyeva will be soon completed in New York. It is a real sensation that she agreed to meet journalists and answer their questions in front of video cameras. For many years almost nothing was known about Svetlana Alliluyeva who shunned mass media and lived a very secluded life. It was not mere luck that helped the film makers, but also a private detective who had found the heroine in American back country. Stalin’s daughter left the Soviet Union back in 1967 and lived in India, then Switzerland, England and the USA. In the mid 1980s she returned to the USSR but soon left for the States again. As she confessed, disappointment had befallen her “both there and here”. Source: ntv.ru

Update 29.11.2011: below is the documentary produced in 2008, featuring the now late Svetlana Alliluyeva.
