A monument to Boris Yeltsin appeared in Moscow

A monument to Boris Yeltsin has been unveiled today in the Novodevichy Cemetery, Moscow. The author of the monument is the famous Russian sculptor Georgy Frangulyan.

He says he tried to convey the formal resemblance as well as positive impact of the first President of Russia. According to the scultor, his monument should become “a symbol of new Russia”.

Several officials including ex-president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Russian ex-prime minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, several governors and regional heads, who worked at Boris Yeltsin’s time, arrived at the ceremony this morning.

Today is the first death anniversary of the first Russian President.
