Legendary Russian Actor Yuri Yakovlev Turns 80 Today

As the Peoples Artist of the USSR states himself, the secret of his longevity lies in eventfulness of his life, in its ups and downs, which always happen to him over a period of 80 years already.
      
      Yuri Yakovlev has played 60 characters on stage and 60 more characters on cinema screen. And now when the artist turns 80 he is engaged in Anton Chekhovs Seagull as Sorin.
      
      The helpers on his creative path are the never-failing intuition and love for prepared improvisation, the actor explains. As a person respecting religion Yuri Yakovlev decided not to celebrate his jubilee on Great Friday and postponed it for Monday.

      Among the actors most famous film works are The Idiot (1958), Gusarskaya ballada (1962) (Ballad of a Hussar), Ivan Vasilevich menyaet professiyu (Ivan Vasilevich Changes Occupation) (1973), Kin-Dza-Dza (1986) and many others.
