Monument to the legendary Russian Emperor Peter the Great has been unveiled in the city of Sochi.
The sculpture ordered by the ex-mayor of the city Viktor Kolodyazhny was created by the famous Sochi sculptors Vyacheslav Zvonov and Alexander Butayev.
The figure of Peter the First stands three meters high and weighs about three tons. It is a classical realistic portrayal of the czar-reformer.
Presently the sculptors Vyacheslav Zvonov and Alexander Butayev are working on a new project: those are several compositions for the new Olympic Centre planned to be built in Sochi. The sculptures are supposed to personify Old Greek Olympian Gods and Mount Olympus itself that entitled the Olympic movement.
