Russian scientists found out that people, who live near green zones, parks and gardens, visit them less often than other city dwellers.
Researchers from Moscow State University studied recreational use of gardens, located in the centre of the Russian capital. They discovered that only 3-7 visitors of the gardens (out of 1500-2500) were physically active. In winter ski lovers occupy parks and gardens. However, only several percent of green zones of Moscow help citizens to live a healthy life.
Scientists concluded that living near a recreational object didn’t stimulate Muscovites for jogging or cycling.
