Russia tries to avoid the Kuril issue at G8 Summit

Russia asks public and political Japanese organizations to avoid raising the Kuril issue during the G8 Summit in Hokkaido.
      Russia has paid attention to Japanese public organizations attempts to raise the northern territories problem at the forthcoming G8 Summit. The Russian side considers the probable Japanese actions as untactful, as Japan is the heading country at the Summit. More than that, the Summit format doesnt provide the opportunity to consider bilateral problems.
