The Harper Perennial Publishing House is going to release the full version of Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s famous novel The First Circle in the English language in 2009.
      
      Till date there is only the abridged 580-page version (the so-called Circle-87) published in English: it was secretly exported from the USSR and published in 1968. That edition lacked nine chapters, omitted by the author for the reasons of censorship when he still hoped to publish the book in the USSR.
      
      The translation of the novel’s full version was carried out a few years ago by the writer’s favourite translator Harry Willets who had also translated the Archipelago GULAG.
