Generals Motors is selecting a site for a new plant in Russia. Last week the representatives of the company visited a proposed site in the Krasnodar Territory, lying not far from the sea ports.
GM is negotiating with several Russian partners on the plant construction issue, since there are only two months left to pick the site. According to the agreement with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, General Motors has to make a decision before September.
The new plant is to produce some 50 thousand cars annually. The enterprise is expected to assemble Opel and Chevrolet cars, models are not specified though.
The first GM plant, located under St Petersburg, will start mass production in November 2008.
