Georgia-Ossetia War ruins Tourist Season in Abkhazia

Abkhazian beaches, the pearl of the Black Sea coast, are losing Russian tourists, who have to leave the region to escape the escalating conflict. Travel agencies report a 30% decline in sales of tours to the unrecognized republic.

The conflict has considerably cut down prices on tours to Abkhazia, but still the number of tourists ready to return tickets is overwhelming.

Sochi has nothing to boast either: news about Olympic objects’ construction is not the best way to attract tourists. Spending a holiday near construction sites is hardly planned by many.
