Worker and Kolkhoz Woman to Be Back Not Until 2010

Restoration of the famous sculpture Worker and Kolkhoz Woman by Vera Mukhina can be completed within 18 months, provided that there are no problems with financing.

The monument was dismounted in October 2003 and promised to get back first in 2005, then in 2006 and later in 2007.
“It is not so difficult to assemble the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman. The main thing is to understand what and how. Now after having carried out expertise and understood the material we are working with that there is nothing so hard about the assembling. The sculpture must be preserved, I am sure. Otherwise it is just a shame” - head of the restoration group Vadim Tserkovnikov said.

Speaking about the earlier appointed deadlines the restorer said: “The deadlines were determined by officials relying on the experience of restoring small bronze sculptures. But they do not compare to Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”. Vadim Tserkonvikov noted that about 150 million rubles were allocated for the monument restoration, but the whole amount went to subcontractors at once.
