According to the Russian media, in September Denmark closes its Consulate in St. Petersburg. As the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains, the decision is based on economy reasons.
After the closure of the diplomatic mission in St. Petersburg, Denmark will have only one embassy in Russia – the one located in Moscow, which runs a visa centre – the only place in Russia where the citizens will be able apply for a Danish visa. Although after opening the visa centre in Moscow Denmark announced plans to open a similar visa centre in St. Petersburg. However, the plans have not been brought to life yet.
