Russia has officially notified the U.S. Poultry and Egg Export Council about banning import of poultry from 19 American poultry plants due to “various deficiencies”.
“Despite the fact that the number of the poultry plants banned from importing to Russia is too big, we are sure the other plants will compensate the needs of the Russian poultry market”, as the Council states.
This week Russia has informed about banning poultry import from 19 U.S. plants and 29 more plants are also under risk of being banned from supplying poultry to Russia.
According to the Russian officials the ban is not linked to the U.S. position on the Russia-Georgia conflict but is based merely on non-following the Russian sanitary and veterinary norms by the American poultry plants.
