On Wednesday the first stone for the new Moscow Raceway will be laid in Volokolamskoe district. The race track will meet all the necessary requirements for world level competitions, such as Formula 1 and MotoGP.
Moscow Raceway is a project by German architect and designer of racing circuits Hermann Tilke. It will be 77 kilometers from the capital. Hans Geist is the project's executive director, he previously worked in Austria (A1-Ring) and Bahrein.
President and CEO of Formula One Management Bernie Ecclestone repeatedly said he'd like the race to take place in St. Petersburg sometime. However unlike Ecclestone, the city's authorities did not think the idea was good.
Earlier reports say the project estimated at $218 thousand will be finished by 2010.
