A recent survey by Bashkirov & Partners says most Russians think democracy with account of national identity would be the perfect form of government for them. 43% of the respondents supported the idea. 28% said Russia does not need a democracy but a “strong leader”. 7% voted for Western-type democracy.
The survey showed that the respondents' opinion does not depend on their age and sex. What it depends on is their education level. 35% of the respondents with lower than average education were in favor of the “strong leader”, while people with higher education tended towards democracy. National identity and traditions proved rather important to them.
1500 Russians took part in the survey, the sampling error is 3,4%.
