On the eve of the Day of People’s Union celebrated on October 4 a memorial plate in honour of Admiral Alexander Kolchak, a leader of the White movement and a legendary Polar explorer, will be set up in Moscow.
The opening ceremony will take place on October 31 in the very heart of Moscow, in Sadovnicheskaya Street, in the yard of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Chapel. The memorial plate is made of granite, with a portrait of Admiral Kolchak carved on it. The opening is timed to the birthday of Kolchak on November 4.
Alexander Kolchak carried out three world cruises and numerous Polar expeditions. In 1906 he was honoured with the Order of Saint Vladimir and Great Constantine’s Medal for his exploration of the Russian North.
