Joseph Alliluyev, the son of Joseph Stalin’s daughter Svetlana and her first husband Grigory Morozov, has died in Moscow. Svetlana Alliluyeva and Grigory Morozov, a Jewish fellow student of hers, got married in 1944 and gave birth to Joseph Alliluyev in 1945. Later the marriage was unofficially dissolved by the order of Joseph Stalin. In 1949 Svetlana married Yuri Zhdanov (son of Stalin’s right-hand-man, Andrei Zhdanov), who adopted her first son. A graduate of a medical institute, Joseph Alliluyev worked as a cardiologist. More than 150 of his articles and treatises on heart diseases have been published. At the same time he rejected to write memoirs and hardly gave any interviews. He was the only one of Stalin’s grandchildren, who managed to have communicated with his grandfather. His relations with his mother were quite complicated. In 1967 she left the Soviet Union, then returned in the early 1980s, but soon left for America again and stopped maintaining relations with her children. Source: fontanka.ru
